This particular webinar does not only cover theoretical knowledge but gives practical examples and reveals to the participants the secrets of safe weather forecasting. No mathematical or meteorological knowledge is required to participate, just basic internet browsing skills.

Webinar Description

The webinar on tropical cyclones is a modern and comprehensive approach to the most dangerous meteorological phenomenon that a mariner can face. This course covers all the basic knowledge a bridge officer needs to know, such as tropical cyclone structure, naming, the dangerous and navigable semicircle, Rule 1-2-3 and the revised danger zone. Special reference is also made to the way tropical cyclones are symbolized on the surface maps issued by the largest meteorological services in the world (NOAA, JMA) and the way to read the meteorological messages (advisories) is explained. And all this through practical applications, exercises and numerous examples. This particular seminar was chosen by HELMEPA for inclusion in its annual educational program of 2016, and was implemented on the 2nd day of the seminar entitled "Navigation Safety".  (more…)

Registration is open and can be done for any date you wish. It is worth noting that this year's Modern Marine Meteorology seminar makes special reference to new environmental regulations with an emphasis on CII and how they are linked to proper course planning.

The seminars are aimed at professional sailors with the exception of the Meteorology seminar for Greek Seas, which is open to non-professionals.

In the case of Shipping Companies, the seminars are also held in English.
