Vision – Mission

MeteoMarine was founded in 2010 with a clear mission: to make meteorological knowledge accessible to merchant marine officers, as well as to private individuals and professionals whose work or activities take place at sea. To support this mission, we developed a series of modern marine meteorology seminars. In a clear and easy-to-understand way, our courses cover both the theory and the practical knowledge needed by professionals to navigate and operate safely and confidently in the marine environment.

Our seminars for professional mariners have earned widespread recognition throughout the maritime community. They are taught by leading shipping companies in Greece and abroad, including Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, and Egypt. Our training is not limited to the shipping industry, however. We have also trained professionals from construction companies and wind farms in meteorology and weather forecasting.

Our seminars have received broad recognition from the maritime community and respected organizations such as HELMEPA. In 2016, HELMEPA selected our Tropical Cyclones seminar for inclusion in its educational program. That same year, our Modern Marine Meteorology seminar was certified as Lloyd’s Register Approved Training Course by Danaos Assessment and Training Center.

A special place in our educational program is held by our seminars on the Greek Seas. These courses explain, in a clear and accessible way, the weather patterns and phenomena that affect Greece. The seminar has already been delivered to dozens of yacht skippers, and in 2016 the Italian classification society RINA also included it in its training activities.

The climate crisis is causing weather events to become increasingly severe and dangerous, threatening safety both at sea and on land and often leading to serious consequences. Unlike many other natural phenomena, whose future development cannot be reliably predicted, weather forecasting has made remarkable advances in accuracy in recent years. The central mission of our seminars is to share practical knowledge about weather phenomena and forecasting, helping reduce risk in activities both at sea and on land.
