The 9-hour Meteorology Webinar for the Greek Seas is an innovative webinar in which participants learn practical knowledge about weather at sea and beyond, always in the light of modern meteorological science. Knowledge, which is immediately usable and will give them the necessary self-confidence and confidence to deal with the complex weather that prevails in our country. This particular webinar does not only cover theoretical knowledge but gives practical examples and reveals to the participants the secrets of safe weather forecasting. No mathematical or meteorological knowledge is required to participate, just basic internet browsing skills.

Το webinar αφορά επαγγελματίες ναυτικούς που εργάζονται στις Ελληνικές Θάλασσες και τη Μεσόγειο, ιστιοπλόους (επαγγελματίες ή μη), skippers, κατόχους ή χειριστές ταχύπλοων σκαφών ή ανθρώπους που τους ενδιαφέρει γενικά η μετεωρολογία. Επίσης απευθύνεται σε επαγγελματικές ομάδες που η εργασία τους είναι στη θάλασσα όπως λιμενικοί, δύτες κλπ. αλλά και σε όποιον θέλει να μάθει τα μυστικά του καιρού στις Ελληνικές Θάλασσες.

Wind and isobarics – interaction of wind and land in coastal areas – caves, meltemia, sea breeze, rain forecast – precipitation forecast maps, methodology we follow for wind and rain forecast, practical signs that warn us of a possible change in weather, cold and warm fronts – weather they cause, types of weather that affect our country, squalls – their forecast, meteorology and the Internet – which sites to trust for forecasting and observing the weather in our country? Waves – Significant Wave Height, wave height forecast, Grib Files and qtvlm.

Location

The webinar will be held using the educational platform ZoomAfter you register, you will be sent a link and detailed instructions to connect and watch the webinar. The course is interactive. This means that participants actively participate, expressing their questions and participating in solving exercises.

Reporter

The presenter of the seminars is Dr. Nikos MazarakisDr. Nikos Mazarakis is Professor of Marine Meteorology, Visiting Professor at Uninettuno University/Institute for International Maritime Studies, Lecturer at KEDIVIM University of Western Macedonia and Director of the Greek Office of the weather company STORMGEO. At the same time, he collaborates as a research associate at National Observatory of Athens. He is one of the main presenters on meteorology in the program "Enhancing maritime security spirit in the Eastern Mediterranean". He has to his credit more than 5500 hours of teaching in the subject of Nautical Meteorology while in the past he has collaborated with major Athenian newspapers, radio and television stations. He organizes seminars for large companies and groups while he has given dozens of lectures in Greece and Cyprus on weather conditions with an emphasis on the sea. For detailed CV click here.
