Τα 500 mb αν και θεωρείται ως το βασικό προγνωστικό επίπεδο για ένα ναυτικό, τις περισσότερες φορές ο χάρτης αυτός πετάγεται στον κάλαθο των αχρήστων. Ο λόγος είναι απλός…η άγνοια για το πως διαβάζεται αυτός ο χάρτης. Το σεμινάριο με τίτλο Modern Marine meteorology (Level II) έρχεται να καλύψει αυτό το κενό και να εκπαιδεύσει τους επαγγελματίες ναυτικούς στην ανάγνωση αυτού του τόσο χρήσιμου μετεωρολογικού χάρτη.

Στο σεμινάριο οι συμμετέχοντες μαθαίνουν να διαβάζουν τους χάρτες των 500 mb. Οι χάρτες αυτοί ανήκουν στην κατηγορία χαρτών ανώτερης ατμόσφαιρας και ο ναυτικός που μπορεί να τους διαβάζει, είναι σε θέση να κατανοεί όλα τα καιρικά φαινόμενα που συμβαίνουν στην επιφάνεια του ωκεανού. Meteorology for children from the National Observatory of Athens

The newspaper Kathimerini dedicated an extensive article in its Saturday issue of February 28, 2015, to the new Meteorology educational program of the National Observatory of Athens entitled “Children are Raining”. The program, whose scientific creator is Dr. Nikos Mazarakis (Physicist – Meteorologist), is already being implemented with complete success in primary schools.

Seminar Description

The tropical cyclone seminar is a modern and comprehensive approach to the most dangerous meteorological phenomenon that a sailor can encounter. This seminar provides all the basic knowledge that the bridge officer must know, such as the structure of tropical cyclones, the name, the dangerous and navigable semicircle, the Rule 1-2-3. Special reference is also made to the way tropical cyclones are symbolized on surface maps, issued by the world's largest meteorological services (NOAA, JMA) and the way meteorological messages (advisories) are read is explained. At the same time, the method of Ma-Li Chen and Lee Chesneau for predicting the trajectory of tropical cyclones using the 500 mb map is taught for the first time in Greece.
