The 8-hour Meteorology Webinar for the Greek Seas is an innovative online seminar in which participants learn practical knowledge about the weather at sea, always in the light of modern meteorological science. Knowledge, which is immediately usable and will give them the necessary self-confidence and certainty to deal with the complex weather prevailing in our country. This webinar not only covers theoretical knowledge but also gives practical examples and reveals to participants the secrets of safe weather forecasting. No mathematical or meteorological knowledge is required for participation, only basic internet browsing skills. 

Target Audience

The webinar is aimed at skippers, professional sailors working in the Greek Seas and the Mediterranean, sailors (professional or not), owners or operators of speedboats or people who are generally interested in meteorology. It is also aimed at professional groups whose work is at sea such as porters, divers, etc. but also at anyone who wants to learn the secrets of the weather in the Greek Seas.

Wind and isobarics – interaction of wind and land in coastal areas – caves, meltemia, sea breeze, rain forecast – precipitation forecast maps, methodology we follow for wind and rain forecast, practical signs that warn us of a possible change in weather, cold and warm fronts – weather they cause, types of weather that affect our country, squalls – their forecast, meteorology and the Internet – which sites to trust for forecasting and observing the weather in our country? Waves – Significant Wave Height, wave height forecast, Grib Files and qtvlm.

The webinar will be held using the educational platform ZoomAfter you register, you will be sent a link and detailed instructions to connect and watch the webinar. The course is interactive. Reporter

The presenter of the seminars is Dr. Nikos MazarakisDr. Nikos Mazarakis is Professor of Marine Meteorology, Visiting Professor at Uninettuno University/Institute for International Maritime Studies and General Manager of the Greek Office of the weather company STORMGEO. He has thousands of hours of teaching experience in the field of Marine Meteorology, while in the past he has collaborated with the National Observatory of Athens, the Merchant Marine Executive Training Center (KESEN) and major Athenian newspapers, radio and television stations. He organizes seminars in companies and groups, while he has given dozens of lectures in Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Egypt, on the subject of marine meteorology.
