Seminar Description

The tropical cyclone seminar is a modern and comprehensive approach to the most dangerous meteorological phenomenon that a sailor can encounter. This seminar provides all the basic knowledge that the bridge officer must know, such as the structure of tropical cyclones, the name, the dangerous and navigable semicircle, the Rule 1-2-3 rule and the revised danger zone. Special reference is also made to the way tropical cyclones are symbolized on surface maps, issued by the world's largest meteorological services (NOAA, JMA) and the way in which meteorological messages (advisories) are read is explained. And all this through practical applications, exercises and numerous examples. This particular seminar was selected by the HELMEPA for inclusion in its annual educational program for 2016, and was implemented on the 2nd day of the seminar entitled “Maritime Safety“.  (more…)

The Nautical Meteorology seminar for the Greek Seas is an innovative seminar in which participants learn practical knowledge about the weather at sea and beyond, always in the light of modern meteorological science. Knowledge that is immediately usable and will give them the necessary self-confidence and certainty to deal with the complex weather that prevails in our country. This seminar not only covers theoretical knowledge but also gives practical examples and reveals to participants the secrets of safe weather forecasting. No mathematical or meteorological knowledge is required for participation, only basic internet browsing skills. The seminar is held in groups of a maximum of 8 people.

The Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association – HELMEPA and the Vourkarios Salamina Nautical Club are organizing on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 17:00 a Maritime Safety Evening in the "Dimitris Bogris" Hall of the Salamina City Hall. The event is under the auspices of the Municipality of Salamina and is part of the program "Strengthening the Spirit of Maritime Safety in the Eastern Mediterranean" implemented by HELMEPA with the support of the British Public Benefit Foundation Lloyd's Register Foundation (LRF) in Greece and Cyprus, between 2019 and 2022.

Modern Marine Meteorology Seminar

Wednesday & Thursday 30-31 October 2019

On Wednesday and Thursday, October 30 and 31, 2019, the two-day seminar will be held Modern Nautical Meteorology, which is approved from Lloyds in within the framework of DANAOS certification Assessment and Training Center. The seminar constitutes a modern and comprehensive approach to the field of marine meteorology, which is so sensitive for the safety of a ship, bridging in a unique way the old but always useful knowledge with all the latest developments in weather issues on board ships.
