What is the most dangerous area in the world for a sailor?

hurricane-1

An average of 100 tropical storms form worldwide each year. About 70 of these develop into tropical cyclones. The most dangerous region worldwide is the Northwest Pacific Ocean, where 30% of all tropical storms are concentrated, followed by the Northeast Pacific with 15%, the North Atlantic, Southwest Pacific and Indian Oceans with 12% each, and Northwest Australia with 7%.

If we focus only on tropical cyclones, the most dangerous region is again the Northwest Pacific with 25.3 tropical cyclones per year and the Northeast Pacific with 15.2 tropical cyclones per year. The corresponding figure for the North Atlantic is 9.4 per year. In other words, in a decade in the North Atlantic an average of 94 tropical cyclones develop, while in the entire North Pacific 405!!
