On Monday 20, Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 March 2023, the Webinars Modern Nautical Meteorology. The webinar is a modern and comprehensive approach to the field of marine meteorology, which is so sensitive to the safety of a ship, bridging in a unique way the old but always useful knowledge with all the latest developments in weather issues on board ships.
The Webinar is aimed at both professionals and trainee seafarers, regardless of rank. To ensure the quality of the training provided, the maximum number of participants in each webinar is 15 people.
THE 1st and 2nd day of the webinar is dedicated to how to read surface charts (facsimile) and wave charts. Through numerous examples and practical applications, participants learn not only to read the charts but also how to work with them, thus avoiding dangerous weather conditions and planning their course with safety and confidence. They also learn why they should always read the facsimile at sea, even if they have weather navigation programs.
THE 3day is dedicated to the modern methods available to receive all official meteorological information on board by e-mail. Thus are analyzed all the modern methods by which the captain can gain access to the weather forecast, anywhere on the planet, without depending on the facsimile or the office. At the same time, the usefulness of Grib Files is explained, while free weather applications are also given. During the 2nd day the participants work with their laptop.

Cost

Educational Method
The seminar will be conducted using the educational platform Zoom. After paying for your participation, you will be sent a link and detailed instructions to log in and watch the webinar. The course is interactive. This means that the participants are actively involved, expressing their questions but also participating in solving exercises with maps and weather programs.
Instructor
The seminar is presented by Dr. Nikos MazarakisDr. Nikos Mazarakis is Professor of Marine Meteorology, Visiting Professor at Uninettuno University/Institute for International Maritime Studies, Lecturer at KEDIVIM University of Western Macedonia and Director of the Greek Office of the weather company STORMGEO. At the same time, he collaborates as a research associate at National Observatory of Athens. He is one of the main presenters on meteorology in the program "Enhancing maritime security spirit in the Eastern Mediterranean". He has to his credit more than 5500 hours of teaching in the subject of Nautical Meteorology while in the past he has collaborated with major Athenian newspapers, radio and television stations. He organizes seminars for large companies and groups while he has given dozens of lectures in Greece and Cyprus on weather conditions with an emphasis on the sea.
