Tropical Cyclones: Analysis, forecast and avoidance
Duration
The duration of the seminar is 5 hours
Seminar Overview
The tropical cyclone course is a modern and comprehensive approach to the most dangerous meteorological phenomenon that a mariner can face. This course provides all the basic knowledge a bridge officer needs to know, such as the structure of tropical cyclones, naming, the dangerous and navigable semicircle. Special reference is also made to the way tropical cyclones are symbolized on the surface maps issued by the world's largest meteorological services (NOAA, JMA). In addition, all available meteorological information and nautical terminology accompanying tropical cyclone track forecasts are explained.
