Seminar Description<\/h2>\n

The Nautical Meteorology seminar for the Greek Seas is an innovative seminar in which participants learn practical knowledge about the weather at sea and beyond, always in the light of modern meteorological science. Knowledge that is immediately usable and will give them the necessary self-confidence and certainty to deal with the complex weather that prevails in our country. This seminar not only covers theoretical knowledge but also gives practical examples and reveals to participants the secrets of safe weather forecasting. No mathematical or meteorological knowledge is required for participation, only basic internet browsing skills. The seminar is held in groups of a maximum of 8 people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Target Audience<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The seminar is aimed at professional sailors working in the Greek Seas and the Mediterranean, sailors (professional or not), skippers, owners or operators of speedboats or people who are generally interested in meteorology and are active in the Greek Seas. It is also aimed at professional groups whose work is at sea such as porters, divers, etc. but also at anyone who wants to learn the secrets of the weather in the Greek Seas.<\/p>\n

Seminar contents<\/h2>\n

Wind and isobarics \u2013 interaction of wind and land in coastal areas \u2013 caves, meltemia, sea breeze, rain forecast \u2013 precipitation forecast maps, methodology we follow for wind and rain forecast, practical signs that warn us of a possible change in weather, cold and warm fronts \u2013 weather they cause, types of weather that affect our country, squalls \u2013 their forecast, meteorology and the Internet \u2013 which sites to trust for forecasting and observing the weather in our country? Waves \u2013 Significant Wave Height, wave height forecast, Grib Files and OPENCPN.<\/p>\n

Where and when<\/h2>\n

The seminar will be held at the company's Greek office. STORMGEO<\/a> located in Peristeri, Vasileos Alexandrou 14-20, P.C. 12134, near the Agios Antonios metro station. For the exact location click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The seminar is 6 hours long and the schedule is as follows: Monday 23\/4, 18:00 \u2013 21:00 and Tuesday<\/strong> 24\/4, time 18:00 \u2013 21:00.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cost<\/h2>\n

The participation cost is 120\u20ac but for participants under 25 years of age there is a discount of 20%. The above price includes the notebook, the certificate of participation, the accompanying material and the coffee breaks. For this specific seminar, no advance payment is required and payment is made upon receipt of the individual attendance file.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The presenter of the seminars is Dr. Nikos Mazarakis<\/a>Dr. Nikos Mazarakis is Professor of Marine Meteorology and Director of the Greek Office of the Norwegian Weather Service. STORMGEO<\/a>. At the same time, he collaborates as a research associate at National Observatory of Athens<\/a>. He has more than 5500 hours of teaching experience in the field of Marine Meteorology, while in the past he has collaborated with major Athenian newspapers, radio and television stations.
